that the congregation of the Little Sisters of the Sacred Heart was founded in 1933, near Montpellier, in France.
From the beginning, the Little Sisters have been inspired by the rule written by Charles de Foucauld. This rule, made according to the monastically forms of his epoch, reflects at the same time the exigencies of the absolute of God met in the prayer, and the desire of a life shared with the poors.
These exigencies and this tension have allowed them little by little, and allows them, still today, a contemplative life in the midst of mankind. These exigencies and this tension give them vitality and unity.
