Erie Jesus Caritas Priests Gather

The priests of the Jesus Caritas fraternities in the Diocese of Erie came together at St Mary of Grace Church, Meadville, January 29, 2010, to reflect upon the charism of poverty in the light of Br. Charles de Foucauld and Fr. John Vianney. Dan Hoffman led off with a presentation on the charism, with Bill Barron challenging us to consider how each of us, and our fraternities, might share this visibly. Johnathan Schmolt then facilitated group discussions and large group feedback. The group decided to invite all members of the fraternity in the Diocese to an agreed upon day of fasting once each month, suggesting the first Monday. The prayer intention for this day will be, in the next few months, the priests and church in Haiti.

Those attending were: Glenn Whitman, Mark O’Hern, Rich Toohey, Mark Nowak, Dick Sullivan, Scott Detisch, Tom Whitman, John Jacquel, Tom Suppa, John Fischer, and Paul Schill, besides the presenters, who are members of the newest fraternity formed in the diocese.
