Twenty-three of the brothers gathered at The Palisades Retreat Center on the Puget Sound from July 27th to the 31st. We had a very refreshing if a bit too warm experience of Northwest hospitality. We had no rain but we did have heat. One day the heat index was 103 degrees which made it the hottest day ever recorded in the Sea-Tac area. They don’t have AC in the Retreat House because it ‘never gets warm in our area.’ Some brothers toured Seattle and some drove to Mt. Rainer on Tuesday; on Thursday some went sailing on the Puget Sound and some went yachting in Lake Washington.
Wednesday was our Desert Day [a few went to the movie theater or the casino because they have AC]. The daily Holy Hour with Morning Prayer along with the daily Eucharist is such a blessing to all of us at the Round-Up. The social gatherings and good food are also enriching. We represented the Dioceses of Bridgeport, Cleveland, Colorado Springs, Des Moines, Erie, Kansas City, Lincoln, New Orleans, Omaha, Peoria, Portland, OR, San Antonio, Savannah, Seattle and Yakima.
A good time was had by all and if one didn’t, it was his own fault. If you were not present, do yourself a favor and come the next time we host a Round-Up.
